This week saw the book launch for the first book in my new mystery series, the Spartina Beach Mysteries. The title is Death in the Dunes. Launching a book is fun and exciting, but also exhausting. After it’s done, I’m ready for a vacation! I set the Spartina Beach Mysteries in one of my favorite vacation spots, the North Carolina Outer Banks.
Even if you can’t travel in real life, a good book offers you a mental vacation—a chance to escape for eight or ten hours and discover a place you’ve never been and encounter people you’ve never met. My goal in writing this new mystery series is to offer readers a chance to explore the North Carolina Outer Banks—one of my favorite places—and enjoy solving a puzzle in the process. This book is a lot like Knives Out meets Dallas: murder (with minimal gore) meets dysfunctional family meets fun.
